Company today
In 2005 I decided to exploit the apparent gap I perceived in the chauffeured supercar hire market and set up Lambogenie. While similar companies abound in the South East, there were few such ventures in the North West. Here, the majority of car firms tend to focus on the atypical stretch limousine.
The background to this venture is the culmination of a life long attraction to suprcars and motorsport. As my other business flourished I decided to add to my Lotus collection and purchase the new Lamborghini Gallardo. The attention this car received persuaded me that there was a definite market for hiring out such cars in the North West. My first move was to set up a website (lambogenie.co.uk) and target the wedding car hire market, but for the groom rather than the bride.
As this business began to snowball I decided to add to my fleet. I wanted contemporary classics rather than traditional ones, so my first addition was a Bentley Continental Flying Spur, which was primarily marketed to the bridal party. The Bentley was soon followed by the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, a Ferrari 360 Modena and Bentley Continental GT.
More recently I have decided to diversify into self-drive hire with Lotus Exige's, Elise's and Europa's. Lotus cars are, in my view, what a sportscar should be - light, agile, stylish and affordable. I have driven Lotus cars for over twenty years - from Elites to Elans, from Esprits to Exiges - and all remain faithful to Colin Chapman's original premise of speed through lightness. In the past few years I have also developed my original Exige S1 into a race car and am currently racing in the Lotus on Track Elise Trophy (elisetrophy.com). Hopefully, more people will be able to experience the rewarding driving experience that a Lotus offers by hiring one to drive themselves.
